Srinagar : JK Yateem Foundation on Wednesday held screening for its Higher Education Scholarships, which attracted a good number of students across Kashmir valley.
Nearly 1200 students appeared in the screening at 21 examination centres across the Jammu and Kashmir.
The screening was also held on here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Pulwama.
Officials from the Foundation said that of total 110 students, 94 wrote their examination.
The official said that JK Yateem Foundation offers three scholarships– Basic Education Scholarship Programme (BESP) for pre-matric students, Higher Education Scholarship Programme for post matric students and Professional Scholarship Programme for professional courses.
He said that students from humble backgrounds are eligible for the scholarship.
“Those selectees will be provided a scholarship of Rs rupees 12000 per year till they complete their higher education”, said the official.
He thanked DC Pulwama, officials of education department and police for cooperating with them in conducting the examination.
JK Yateem Foundation, he said, is working for the welfare and rehabilitation of widows, poor, orphans and destitute.
“The Foundation is a registered and non-political and non-government voluntary humanitarian public organization and has been in the field of social service for the past 21 years with its units in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that they feed 200 families of widows in Pulwama and also provide scholarship to 100 students on monthly basis.
