Pulwama: To denounce the killing of Sanjay Sharma belonging to Kashmiri Pandit community, scores of youth and civil society members held a candle protest in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town on Sunday evening.
Sharma was shot dead by militants, meters away from his house, on Sunday morning in Achan village of the district.
The protest was held at Shaheed Farooq Chowk, the commercial nerve centre of the district.
Deploring the killing, the protesters held placards carrying slogans like : “We demand justice” and “Who will take care of orphans? Stop violence.”
The protestors said that such incidents caused distress among the people of Kashmir especially among the minority community.
“This protest was held to highlight the injustice done to him ,” said Mudasir Dar, a social activist, who was part of the protest while demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators of the crime.
The killing received wide condemnation from different quarters across Jammu and Kashmir.
