District Level school competition in various games held at Pulwama

PULWAMA: District Youth Service and Sports Pulwama on Thursday held inter zonal district level competition of Carrom, Chess and Table tennis.
The competition was organized at synthetic hockey turf in Chatapora Pulwama.
During the competition students from government and private institutions of different zones participated in the games.
A student from Noorpora Government Higher Secondary School Nimra Ali, said that we started from school competition to zonal and now to district level.
“It is important to hold such sports activities as it gives us opportunity to perform our talent. We can compete at national and international levels” she added.

Another participating student Tamana said “it is a great opportunity given by our teachers to prove our worth although if we don’t succeed in the competition it is not an end. Failure gives us another chance to correct our mistakes.”

The event was inaugrated by Joint Director Department of Youth Service & Sports Kashmir Waseem Raja.
He praised participating students and highlighted the importance of sports in daily life.
While speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the event he said that encouraging youth to participate in sports activities is both responsibility of parent and our department in order to stop the youth from indulging in drug menace.
“The sports activities develops both physical and mental health of the youth” he added.
He also assured that within one month the hockey tournament will be held on this first of its kind synthetic hockey turf of Kashmir valley.
