Pulwama Police cracked ATM theft case after arresting three Bangladeshi citizens.
On the intervening night of 7th & 8th April burglars had decamped with Automated Teller Machine (ATM) installed near Government Boys College Pulwama. Subsequently an First Information Report (FIR) No 78/2023 under relevant sections of law was lodged in Police Station Pulwama.
A police official said that we received a complaint from Jammu & Kashmir Bank South Zonal head and FIR was registered and investigation was initiated in the same.
“On the same night a mini truck was also stolen from Chekpora Pulwama and complaint was also received about it” said the police official.
In the initial investigation it was found that through CCTV’s of the new colony area of Pulwama town that a mini truck has crossed through interior roads connecting different villages like Gangoo, Prichoo, Urichersu, Pinglena and Gundipora.
During the course of action the broken part of ATM was found in the orchards of Gundipora village. Upon it suspected probables were called for questioning but nothing relevant was found around the case.
After second day of the FIR the stolen vehicle was found in Pahoo village parked on the main road.
As the investigation was proceeding the active phone numbers of the area were investigated but nothing inclined with the case was produced.
With no conectarte evidence it was turning to be a blind case.
A special impression towards the case by Pulwama Police Chief Mohammad Yousuf Choudhary, ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad Wani, DySP Showkat Wani and Station House Officer Pulwama Iqbal Azim Khan after researching through social media platforms found that in the past ATM machines were lifted around the country.
A private deactivate from West Bengal was approached about the case of the ATM lift.
He provided a lead about a gang from Bangladesh who had lifted ATM from several states of India.
After getting leads, sources of Bangladesh were activated and vigil was put in for the suspected gang who had been crossing the border illegally.They would theft and return back to Bangladesh.
After receiving tip off about crossing border of a group via West Bengal a proper strategy was set to trap them.
Once they reached to Pulwama town and were planning for future robbery in Shaheed Park Pulwama a team of police in civies ring fenced and got hold on them.
The three accused arrested have been identified as Suman Mal son of Jainal resident of Rajapur Police Station Raainda Bangladesh, Farooq Ahmad Ali son of Ahmad Ali resident of Razwair Police station Rainda , Bangladesh and Mohd Ibrahim son of Mohd Muslim resident of Bangla Bazar Police Station Sharun Khola Bangladesh.
The apprehended persons during questioning confessed several crimes they had done including the Pampore State Bank of India (SBI) ATM lifting.
The Pulwama ATM was buried by them in Dogama village near the apple orchards which was digged out and recovered from the spot.
The accused had been crossing the border over a fake aadhar card with residence from West Bengal.
The further investigation of the case are underway and the locals residents of the Pulwama have hailed the efforts for cracking such case.
