KKC Meeting in Shopian Highlights Farmers’ Struggles Amid Erratic Weather

Srinagar : Kashmir Kissan Conference ( KKC) held a meeting in  Zrakan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.
According to a statement issued here, the meeting was attended by scores of farmers from the area.
The participant highlighted the issues faced by the farmers due to climate change and unpredictable weather patterns.
Addressing the meeting, veteran  CPI leader and former MLC Abdul Rehman Tukroo demanded the introduction of market intervention scheme and comprehensive crop insurance scheme for the apple farmers.
Khursheed Ahmad, an organiser of KCC said that the long-drawn-out dry weather conditions impacted the production this year.
He said that over the past few years, the farmers had to bear the brunt of erratic weather patterns in the region.
Other organisers, Bashir Ahmad and Gulman Mohammad, demanded the Minimum Support Price ( MSP) for the  harvest .
Prominent among others who participated in the meeting included Parvez Ahmad, Mohamamd Ramzan and Manzoor Ahmad.
